This work - one of a series of curtains for children's cots made on the theme of Russian folk tales. Our family has four kids - my niece Nastya (her three years old) and my grandson Vityushka, which in June was two, and two very young that were born this summer - and Verunchik Bogdashka. So, I got the idea for them to do this series.

Nastya as the eldest, received the first blanket "Hen-Ryaba", was made for Vityushki "Gingerbread Man" . For Verunchik I made the plot of "Geese-Swans", and for Bogdashki - (he is not yet ready) "Teremok".

This is how these "Geese-swans" look on the bed:

The veil is on the lining of the right color, and, as is sometimes practiced in the Irish lace, mesh for fixing the figures fit separately and superimposed on top of the liner. Sometimes another way, when the grid is formed by connecting vyvyazyvaniya breed between the figures, but so do when they want to get openwork fabric (eg, my same tablecloths on this site: here or here ). For blankets on a cot openwork fabric it is not very suitable - cover should be tight, so I chose the first method involving knitting grids separately and patch it on the pad. For the story "Geese-Swans" is selected blue background - as if the geese are flying against the sky. Therefore, net lining and I made close blue tones.

As in other cases, to start a multi-figured work best with the manufacture of paper layouts and placing them on the final grid - once seen as that is better positioned.

Then proceed to the vyvyazyvaniyu basic shapes, and completes all herbs, flowers. As manufacturing figures sewn on top of the mesh lining and method of application, at the same time mesh lining and thus firmly bonded together in many places, which makes the strength of the product.

Apple tree

Then separately knitted and sewn apples and leaves. When do apples, the main trick - not to make them round and make length "apple" shape. This is achieved in this way - first vyazhesh circle, and in the last row tied it in some places the posts, and in some places polustolbikami.

  

It revives if the bottom has to attach a dark brown or little black furry "tail" of a folded several times a thread, cut short.

Sheet fit with "holes" on the center line to simulate veins. Piping in contrasting color I had to do because of the fact that the thread, which I knitted myself a sheet, got darkish and merged with the background. If you use a lighter thread, the harness can be unnecessary.

Due to the fact that the figures themselves less and wings partially blocking the body on the stomach can not suffer with a pattern of feathers, but simply to make it smooth tummies columns of (thickening in places - because polustolbikov). Head with a beak is knitted separately (just an oval of columns) and sewn on.

Big goose

The body and long goose neck knitted similarly small geese, but instead of simple columns on the stomach applied pattern that simulates feathers (see. Schemes provisionally designated two types of used patterns - "snopiki" (semi-circles with the fan outward from the center line) and "feathers" (quarter circle with radiating lines), as well as the arches of different sizes and large, so-called "flight feathers" feathers of 5 pieces at the end of each wing. The flight feathers are knitted so - first, the mounting points separately bound and thread is a chain of Air loops required length, rotate, skip ch 1, each for the following column. It turns out the base of the pen. Threads can be cut even if it is necessary, and make a number of the following grounds, etc. In my work these grounds flight feathers tied a white thread. Then, at the next stage, it is tied with the base (in some series only one, and in the last row - three consecutive base) polustolbikami on both sides to form a curvature in the end due to additional polustolbikov, smooth rounding. I have to work this harness is made of gray thread. Between a flight feathers are connected with a needle after knitting - this is my designated a zigzag line.

The lower wing is knitted similarly, should only take into account that it begins with a series of small arches.Followed by "feathers" pattern (indicated in the diagram as the quarters round). All other rows as if obstructed by a spectator torso flying goose.
